NYX Butter Gloss

Welcome to my quirky, little blog on the vast sea of the interwebs. Whether you are new or a repeat offender reader, I'm glad you're here. I'm just a simple Okie girl trying to keep myself happy in spite of a complicated neuro condition and a long wait for my darling hubby's green card. So I keep my self happy and focused by talking makeup, a lot. It makes me feel pretty, I enjoy trying new products and I love all of the fantastic people I've met while blogging. I hope you enjoy your time here and I'd love it if you felt compelled to leave me a comment after you browse this post.

In this edition of Shalunya and Boyet, an unknown blog, we'll be discussing the NYX Butter Gloss. Recently the NYX Butter Gloss has become very popular. So when I saw that my local Target is now carrying a limited NYX selection including Butter Gloss, I decided to give it a shot.

The tube is clear so that you can see the actual color of the product.  The top is colored to match the product, as well.

The product is applied to the lips with a doe foot applicator. The packaging is easy, convenient and not fussy at all.

I purchased a nice neutral pink in Vanilla Cream Pie. It's a great shade that just enhances my own natural lip color.  Although it smells slightly sweet, maybe vanilla-ish, it certainly doesn't taste sweet. It certainly doesn't smell like Vanilla Cream Pie, doesn't taste like Vanilla Cream Pie and it doesn't look like Vanilla Cream Pie. Oh well, I wouldn't want it to taste like it because it wouldn't stay on my lips.

While it's not fully opaque color it does provide a glossy light to medium color to the lips. It is available in nice selection of 12 different shades. NYX claims that the Butter Gloss never feels sticky. Maybe my definition of sticky is faulty. Personally, I think if you press your lips together and they don't immediately separate when you open your mouth, then it's sticky. Call me naive but that's the way I see it. All in all, the NYX Butter Gloss is a nice product. I'm glad I found it just because I wanted to know if it lived up to all the hype.

When I put on the NYX Butter Gloss I was immediately reminded of the Almay Liquid Lip Balm which I love. So I decided to try them side by side wearing the NYX on one side and the Almay on the other. While the NYX give just slightly better color payoff, it feels thicker and stickier than the Almay. The Almay seems to slowly sink into my lips actually providing some nourishment whereas the NYX just sits there feeling thick and gloopy.

NYX offers 12 shades in their line; whereas, Almay offers only 10. However, I feel that the shades offered by Almay are more varied than the shades offered by NYX. I feel like some of the shades within the NYX range are really similar or it could just be that I'm partial to the Almay Liquid Lip Balms. For me Almay wins this one, hands down. I own five of the Almay shades and I would purchase more. I will not be purchasing any more of the NYX Butter Gloss. Sorry, NYX I don't think your Butter Gloss melts into my lips like butter, it feels more like it sits on top of my lips like Crisco.

Remember if you enjoyed this post or found it informative, I'd really appreciate it if you left me a comment. Even if it's a corny one that says 'Sam Was Here.' All of the products were purchased with my own money, even if it was very little money because I really like to coupon. Please follow me on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram for your daily dose of positivity. Everyone can use a little more positive, so feel free to join me on the sunny side of life. :)
